What have we been doing?
February 2025
This month, the School Council have wanted to help out our Nursery children.
Our Nursery had a beautiful apple tree in their garden which the children loved to watch grow throughout the year and pick the apples from. Unfortunately, it has been damaged in the stormy weather. So the School Council have decided to write to our local Garden Centres in Blackburn to ask if they will kindly donate an apple tree for us to plant in our Nursery garden.
Fingers crossed we will be successful and we can soon plant a lovely new apple tree in our school grounds. Wish us luck!
January 2025
This month, the School Council have been keeping an eye on our bulbs that we planted at the beginning of the school year.
We can now see some new growth starting to show! We can't wait for all the bulbs to flower in Spring time. In the meantime, we have been discussing what we would like to plant for Summer.
The ideas we have are...
- sunflowers
- garden herbs
- wild flowers
- potatoes
- strawberries
- onions
- peas
We are going to vote in each class as to what we would like to grow as a school and the top 4 will be planted later in the Spring. We will keep you posted!
November 2024
This month, the School Council have been working hard towards Children in Need.
They had to think about what the theme would be for Children in Need. The children came up with lots of amazing ideas but when it came to voting, there was only thing they wanted our school to do... be YELLOW and SPOTTY!
The children helped to deliver an assembly to the whole school about Children in Need. They explained what the charity is and how it helps children all over the UK, and how Children in Need has helped children in Blackburn - by setting up youth clubs and sports sessions, and by funding Nightsafe, a charity that provides services for young homeless people, to transform an old, disused building into a six bedroom shelter for young people.
Thank you to the School Council for their hard work, and thank you to all the families who kindly donated to Children in Need. You have helped us to raise nearly £270!
October 2024
The school council members have been very busy planting bulbs in our brand new planters! We have planted crocuses, daffodils, tulips and hyacinth.
School has been very lucky to secure a grant from SACRE towards developing nature and nurture at school.
In the Spring, each year group will be deciding what to plant next - fruit, vegetables and herbs - and all the children will play a part in planting and caring for whatever we grow!
A special mention must go to Mr Ali and his team at Rightway who very kindly donated and delivered the soil. A HUGE thank you from all of us at Audley.
September 2024
Welcome to another new year of Audley Infants School Council!
The children have been nominated, the classes have voted, and...
WELL DONE!
to our new Audley School Council
2024-2025
Mrs Diggle and Mrs Massey are sure they are all going to be amazing this year in helping Audley Infants and our surrounding community be the best that it can be!
