What happens in EYFS?
Our classrooms look busy, can be noisy and messy, but exciting and enthusiastic learning is always taking place! We provide a wide range of learning experiences for our children, both inside and outside of the classroom, using the local environment, and through trips linked to our topics. We are fortunate to have a new outdoor area which we love!
The children have opportunities to work with an adult, as part of a group, and independently during the day. There are several areas in the classroom which are part of the continuous provision we set up to consolidate learning, develop curiosity and promote challenge. The children learn through play - so please don't be worried if your child says they have only played all day - they will have engaged in purposeful play activities to develop their learning.
English, Maths and phonics are taught daily. Your child will bring a reading book home which needs to come to school every day. We also set homework each Friday which is linked to the week's learning.
We keep you informed of your child's progress in several ways. We use 'Evidence Me' to send home photographs of achievements, learning, and activities via email. Parents' Meetings are held twice a year, and progress reports are sent home termly. The home - school relationship is vital so if you have any concerns we will speak to you as soon as we can. We try to invite parents into our classrooms once every half term so you can see the activities we are doing and work with your child.
