This week we are looking at birds in our environment, so get outside in your garden, yard or in the park and look for birds. (If you can’t get outside look out of a window and see what is flying past.)
What do you already know about birds? Tell an adult or your brother or sister. Watch this video below about birds and see if you can find out some facts to share with someone in your family.
Look out for these common birds in the UK
Last year, the most commonly-seen bird was the blackbird, with 88% of education settings reporting seeing them.
Have you seen any of these birds in your garden? Use the worksheet below to count how many birds you can see.
We can look after birds by making our garden or outdoor areas bird friendly. We can also care for birds by making them a feeder, below are lots of recipes for bird feeders. Have a go and see if any new bird come to eat the food.
We would love to see pictures of any birds you see or any of the activities below that you try at home, please email these to your teacher.
