Phonic Scheme, Reading Resources and Curriculum Websites

Reading

To enhance our teaching of reading here at Audley Infant School we use:

  • Oxford Reading Tree decodable readers (ELS)

We use this scheme for individual and guided reading sessions.

We have a well stocked library. All of our pupils borrow books from the library weekly.

Phonics Scheme- Essential Letters and Sounds

We teach phonics with the Essential Letters and Sounds scheme. In Reception and Year 1 all pupils receive an hour of phonics each day. This may be split into two sessions.  The pupils work at pace through the ELS phonic programme to develop fluency in reading. Pupils in year 2 who are not yet fluent readers will continue with a daily hour of phonics.

More information will follow for parents and pupils when the programme is fully implemented throughout school.
