English 9.30-10.30

Hello year 1, today we will finish our Mr. Benn adventure story. Yesterday you were asked to write about Mr. Benn's problem, today we will find a solution to the problem. Remember to read your work from yesterday before carrying on the adventure today.

You can watch another Mr. Benn video to help you with the order of events that all his adventures follow.

Mr. Benn: Cowboy

Today I would like you to write about the solution to Mr. Benn's problem and finish your adventure. Remember to use the story mountain plan that we completed in class on Monday, this is where you planned your own Mr. Benn adventure, it is very useful to support your writing.

Here is an example of how my story continues:

Mr. Benn heard the loud sirens and knew the firefighters were on their way. Soon the fire engine arrived and parked outside the burning house. Three firefighters jumped out and called to Mr. Benn "Quick, come and get a hose to put the fire out!" Mr. Benn and another firefighter ran around the side of the fire engine and pulled their hoses towards the house, when they turned them on no water came squirting out. Mr. Benn asked "Why is it not working?" the firefighter answered "We have run out of water!" Just then Mr. Benn had an idea and asked "Do you have any buckets?" "Yes, why?" replied the firefighter. Mr. Benn ordered the firefighters to grab all their buckets and follow him down to the river he had spotted earlier. They filled the buckets with water and soon the fire was out! Everyone clapped and cheered for Mr. Benn. As if by magic the shopkeeper appeared "This way Mr. Benn," said the shopkeeper. Mr. Benn found himself back in the fitting room of the costume shop. He walked home, when he got to his house he put his hand in his pocket for his keys and found his firefighting gloves in there too. I will keep these to remind me of my exciting adventure he thought!

Please remember and use adjectives (describing words) to make your writing interesting and detailed. You could use conjunctions to extend your sentences and don't forget your capital letters and full stops. Some children have been trying to use question marks and exclamation marks in their writing, well done!

Yellow and Red - I would like you to carry on from yesterday and write a page to complete your Mr. Benn adventure, remember to use conjunctions, adjectives and punctuation including speech marks.
